Since August 1 Taym, and industrial services company of Benito Roggio ambiental, has been a player of the program “Optimismo que transforma”.
Such initiative of Coca – Cola de Argentina and Walmart is an integrated program to recover packaging for recycling. It encourages users to become exchange agents, promoting waste separation from home. The program seeks to generate a positive change in the population by increasing the recovery of packaging and creating awareness through campaigns about the importance of recycling and reuse of PET packaging.
To collect empty plastic bottles, there are recycling stations located in 10 Walmart stores in the Great Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Paraná, and Mendoza.
By the end of 2010, 7 new stations will be opened in other stores.
Taym provides logistics services, withdrawing PET from stores and using all collected material for recycling. The purpose of the participation of the company in the program is to achieve a sustainable collection system, which may be replicated in other places and is long lasting.
The program was implemented in December 2008 and recovered 1,578,245 packages, representing 75,154.5 Kg of PET.
The outcome “Optimismo que transforma” can also be observed in the donation of educational games prepared with recycled PET to schools in different areas of the country. Educational games for 100 schools for 25,000 students have been donated to far.
