Since May 2009, Benito Roggio ambiental has been actively participating in the national separation, storage and collection campaign of PET caps for Hospital P. Garrahan.
BRa participates in the campaign both from our corporate offices and our business areas located in different points in Argentina. To achieve such goal, tapitómetros ("PET caps containers") were placed at the different operating bases. A tapitómetro is a device specially designed by BRa teams to store more than 19,000 PET caps in a compacted way, thus optimizing the use of the space.
At present, the participation of BRa continues to be highly successful, exceeding 1,000,000 collected and delivered PET caps in October.
The participation of BRa and the implementation of the tapitómetros were so successful that new alliances and modes were created for networking to increase storage and generate a double benefit: on the one hand, all money from the sale of materials is given to the Hospital, and on the other hand, the promotion of the use of recycled materials results in an environmental benefit.
Consequently, as of December 2009, BRa executed an agreement with Unidad de Gestión Operativa Ferroviaria de Emergencia/UGOFE ("Raiway Operations Management Unit") for the installation of tapitómetros at the Railway Terminal Stations in the neighborhoods of Retiro and Constitución in the city of Buenos Aires. UGOFE is the company responsible for operating the services of the railways Roca, San Martín, and Belgrano Sur. About 8,000,000 monthly passengers circulate by the above-mentioned stations.
Following the undertaken commitment, in April 2010 BRa extended the campaign to the schools of our employees’ children, taking tapitómetros in an itinerant way, upon request.
Moreover, in June 2010 BRa, to commemorate the World Environment Day, executed an agreement with IRSA –management company of the main shopping centers in Argentina- for the placement of tapítometros during said month at the shopping malls Abasto Shopping, Paseo Alcorta, Alto Palermo, and Dot in the city of Buenos Aires as well as in Alto Avellaneda in the province of Buenos Aires and Córdoba Shopping and Alto Rosario in the interior of the country.
